Clarendon Art

Ms. Amanda Tingle

Ms. Barbara Middleton

This year Ms. Amanda Tingle, who also teaches art at Longview, is joining Ms. Middleton in the Clarendon art room. All grade levels have been involved with drawing this year. Drawing is such a valuable skill. The more we practice drawing the better our observation skills become and the more we see.

January is a busy time. We will be had an art show in conjunction with a family clay night with our artist in residence, Helen Helwig. Helen has worked with Clarendon students on two other beautiful mosaic murals. We are excited to have her back to work with our students again, this time on a mosaic for the front of our school. We had many families attend our Art Walk and make clay pieces to add to the mural.

In addition, fourth graders have made banners using African symbols, and are currently painting some close-up pictures of insects.

Fifth graders have also drawn insects with close-ups. They will be learning basic tapestry weaving techniques.

Sixth graders have recently learned about Rene Magritte and Leonardo da Vinci. They are learning to make their drawings more realistic with the use of shading .
