P.E. News

The Presidential fitness program practice round went great. The students all worked on push ups, sits ups, a 1-mile run, shuttle run and a flexibility test. There are different qualifying scores for age group as well as boys and girls.

All of the kids will now know what scores they need to get in the Spring to win either the Presidential Award, the National Award or the Participant Award.

Here is an example: These are the scores you would need to qualify for the Presidential Award if you are an 11 year-old boy.

  • Sit ups-- 47 in one minute
  • Shuttle run-- 10 seconds
  • Flexibility-- 31 centimeters
  • One Mile Run-- 7:32
  • Push ups-- 27 without stopping

As you can see the awards will be difficult to achieve. Some of the students are very serious about the awards and are continuing to practice. The test will be held in the PE classes starting in April.
