Dual Language

Dual Language Enrichment Program

 

Through our Dual Language programs at Longview , Encanto, and Clarendon School , students will:

·         Learn all subject matter in English and Spanish

·         Learn to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish

·         Receive targeted instruction in basic English and Spanish language skills and vocabulary

·         Learn patience, sensitivity, and understanding of what it means to learn a second language

·         Develop positive cross-cultural understanding and relationships

·         Develop skills in facilitating conversations and understanding lessons taught in English and Spanish through cooperative group learning

 

Program Goals for the Students

·         Bilingualism and biliteracy in English and Spanish

·         Academic achievement as measured by State and District assessments

·         Positive cross-cultural attitudes and understanding

 

The success of all children is the number one priority of the Osborn School District .  Therefore, all Dual Language classrooms use District adopted curriculum materials to teach all subjects. 

 State standards are used to guide the instruction in both languages.
