What is a Myth?

Introduction

Hercules, Zeus, Athena...you may have heard these names before...but who are they really? In an effort to better understand their world, the Ancient Greeks created stories about these Olympian gods and goddesses. These stories often explained everyday occurrences ranging from the weather, death and the afterlife, seasons, historical events, and even natural disasters!For this webquest, you will discover who these Greek gods and goddesses are!

You will be given two tasks to complete.


Task 1

You will individually select a god or goddess to research on-line. As you research, you will record your findings on the worksheet provided. Please print the worksheet first.

Task 2

Go to the Myth website. Scroll down using the arrow. Select one of the Greek Myths to read. After you read, you will write one paragraph describing the myth and one paragraph describing the character traits of the God. Please write the paragraphs on the back of the worksheet.

Please write neatly, you may have to share these with your class.
