Happenings at Montecito
Montecito Community School
Library in a Box
Montecito believes that all children deserve and need to have many books of their very own. Having books means they will become good readers and will also love to read. The goal of the Library in a Box project is to provide every student in the school with twenty books that they choose and may keep, along with a stackable box.
Last year, we had three book distributions --600 students received 12,00 books! We also gave out over 400 book boxes. This year we hope to have our first distribution in January. We plan to give every student twenty more books, and a box to students who did not receive one last year.

Snakes!!!

First Graders handling Snakes
Montecito first graders were fortunate enough to have a visit from snake expert Clint Miller after finishing a unit on reptiles and amphibians. Mr. Miller brought several different reptiles with him including a diamondback rattlesnake and a Gila monster. Each child was allowed to get an up close look at a gopher snake.
