CLASS DESCRIPTION

Communications Technology consists of the following:

Advanced PowerPoint Web Page Creation Video Editing

Students move from one work station to the next (all stations involve the use of the Internet).

More detailed information about each work station is as follows:

PowerPoint

  • Understand what multimedia is and what its components are

  • Understand how multimedia can be used as a modern communications tool

  • Create a multimedia slide presentation using the Internet

  • Create a multimedia slide presentation using the Internet

  • Understand how special effects can be used to enhance a slide presentation

  • Demonstrate how to run a multimedia slide presentation for an audience

  • Insert text and graphics

 

Video Editing and Production

  • Identify the names and functions of the video production equipment

  • Open "canned" video clips, and add them to a project timeline, change their order on the same video track and move them between video tracks

  • Insert transitions between video clips

  • Print a video to the computer and TV/monitor screen and simultaneously record it to videotape

  • Operate a camcorder

  • Create a storyboard and treatment plan for video production

  • Understand audio recording operations and tools
