Shirts
- Girls & Boys:
Shirts must be polo-style and have a
full collar.
No logos on shirts except school
insignias. Shirts must have sleeves that are 4” long
from the underarm seam.
Shirts may be long or short sleeved.
Shirts must be white, navy blue, or maroon.
Shirts may not be unbuttoned below the sternum.
Students may NOT wear all navy blue.
No exposed midsections or undergarments.
Shirts may not be more than one size too large. Undershirts
and/or turtlenecks may be worn underneath a polo-style
shirt, may be white, gray, or black, long or short sleeved,
with no visible insignia. Undershirts must be tucked in if
they are longer than the polo shirt.
Pants
- Girls:
Long pants, capri-style pants, shorts,
skorts, jumper shorts and skirts are fine. Sweats, pajamas,
overalls, or jeans are not allowed.
Boys:
Long pants, shorts, no sweats or
jeans/denim
Both:
Pants may be navy blue or khaki
– industrial uniform-style pants (Dockers brand is an
example of an appropriate pant style).
All pants must remain at the waist and
may not be more than one size too large.
Pant legs must hang naturally, may not touch ground and must
be hemmed.
Pants may not be rolled.
No pants with cargo-style (puffy) pockets.
Grunge/Alternative-style pants are not allowed.
Shorts, skirts and skorts must be at
least to the longest fingertip in length. Slits may not be
shorter than the longest fingertip in length.
Belts
- Girls & Boys:
Belts are optional – If one is worn, it
must be blue, black, or brown. It may be made of fabric or
leather. The belt must run through all loops. It cannot hang
longer than the student’s thumb and index finger spread
apart – with the thumb starting on any part of the buckle.
Belt buckles must be plain, with no initials,
emblems, or symbols.
If a student needs a belt and does not
have one, he/she will be given a commercial zip tie which
must be worn to keep the pants up. When shirts are tucked
in, the belt and/or waistband must be visible.
Shoes
- Girls & Boys:
Shoes must be worn, must match and
be
a pair. Shoes may be any color except predominately
red and predominately blue shoes. Pink and
Turquoise are okay. Shoes must be closed-toe with a heel
strap. Slippers, flip-flops, and slip-ons are not allowed.
Shoelaces
- Girls & Boys
No red or blue shoelaces.
Socks
- Girls & Boys
Socks must be white, black, or brown.
They cannot go above mid-calf. If socks are worn, two socks
must be worn (one on each foot), they must be the same
color, and they must be the same height. Footies are
allowed.
Jackets, Sweaters, & Sweatshirts
-Girls & Boys
Sweatshirts and sweaters must be
predominantly white, navy blue, maroon, black, or grey
and must have no initials, emblems, or symbols that
are inappropriate for school. A uniform shirt must be worn
underneath with the collar outside of the outerwear. OMS
insignias may be worn. Any type of heavy coat may be worn to
school.
Jewelry
- Girls & Boys
Jewelry may be worn at OMS – however,
chains and necklaces must be put inside of the uniform
shirt. No student may have
jewelry that presents a safety risk, can be used as a
weapon, or infers gang affiliation.
Headwear
- Girls & Boys
No
headwear is allowed. (no hats, visors, headbands,
bandanas, do-rags, etc.)
Backpacks -
Girls & Boys
Backpacks are allowed. If backpacks
contain words or designs, they must be appropriate.
Additional Information
-
Students may not have any additional items that are not
part of the school uniform. There may not be ‘flagging’
of any article. Examples: washcloths, extra t-shirts,
towels, etc.

It is the parents’ responsibility to assure that their
child comes to school in the proper uniform. The OMS
Uniform Room may assist students in making sure they are
in proper uniform. It is open only before school -
8:20am – 8:40am. Students may trade their clothes
for a uniform as long as sizes are available. If
a student is not in uniform after school has started,
they may call their parents and have them bring a
uniform to school. Otherwise, the student is assigned to
ISS for the day. Students that are out-of-uniform may
not be in regular classes.

Any buttons, jewelry, or other accessories, including
tattoos which contain vulgar, lewd, obscene, or plainly
offensive messages or which may lead to substantial
interference with school activities, including
accessories that advocate the use of alcohol or drugs
and accessories that make reference to, or identify
gangs, are not allowed.

All other aspects of the OMS dress code are in effect
and under the discretion and judgment of the school
staff. Policy may be subject to change pending Site
Council or Administrative action.
