ArtOsborn Middle SchoolCLASS DESCRIPTION Teaching children to STOP, LOOK, SEE, OBSERVE, EXAMINE. Students LISTEN, HEAR, DESCRIBE, MIMIC. They TOUCH, MANIPULATE, BUILD, HOLD, RELEASE. Students FEEL EMOTIONS, STRENGTHEN PASSIONS, STRETCH, ACQUIRE, FULFILL. All this and more is accomplished in the Osborn Middle School art program for seventh and eighth grade students. Though only offered in 12 week cycles throughout the school year, the art program explores every students innate desire to create, to express, to be heard. Students go on to become less critical of their artistic abilities and more understanding of what skills they do possess, as well as what areas are "learned" and not inherited. When Ms. Loff is not cleaning litter boxes at home, she is creating multimedia works of art as she likes to dabble in many techniques so that she can bring her experiences to her art students. She has worked with every grade level but prefers seventh and eighth graders because they pose quite a challenge when it comes to de-mystifying the artistic experience. Basically an Arizona native, she has one daughter who is helping her raise thirteen cats and seven dogs in the home they share. Together they have fostered many animals and have found good homes for them. Ms. Loff, Art click on the photo to enlarge |
