Parent Academy Reunion

Osborn District schools offer classes for adults and their young children.

Adult Classes: please call Roberta Figueroa at 602-707-2004 for more information, or email. These classes are free for district parents and no child care is provided.

  • Kith and Kin Project- provides training, support and equipment to people who care for children in their homes!  Training topics include: brain development, positive communication, activities for children, health and safety, developmental ages and stages, First Aid/CPR certification, nutrition, guidance and discipline. Sponsored by Association for Supportive Childcare.
  • Bilingual Computer Classes- Call Roberta Figueroa for information 602-707-2004 or email.

  • English Classes- Sponsored by each school for the benefit of their parents.

Early Learning Classes: please call Kim Westfall at 602-707-8316 for more information, or email. These classes are free for all community members and are sponsored by First Things First. Children participate in class.

  • Giggles, Squiggles & Squirms- designed to assist parents of three and four year olds, in being their child’s first teacher. A new read-aloud book is introduced each month accompanied with activities such as counting, sorting, matching, movement, poetry and cooking. Participating children will receive a free book.
  • Story Time- for children 18 months-5 years old, Story Time is designed to enhance parent-child interaction through literacy activities. Parents are the child’s first teacher and through this program they will participate with their preschooler, engaging in topic-rich conversations and music & movement activities. Participating children receive a free book.
  • Play to Learn- for parents and their zero to five year old children. Parents build confidence as primary teachers of their children in preparing them for Kindergarten. The workshops become a foundation for these parents to build the skill sets needed to attain economic self-sufficiency and connect with a variety of community resources.

Clarendon:

Encanto:

  • Arizona Kith and Kin Project beginning Sept. 2nd at 8:30-10:30am. call Sophia Munoz, 602-707-2322

  • Giggles, Squiggles & Squirms- began Sept 1st and meet on the first Thursday of the month through May from 8:30-9:30 am.

  • Story Time- classes begin Jan. 18, 2012 and meet on Wednesdays through Feb. 28 at 8:30-9:30 am.
  • Play to Learn- classes begin April 13, 2012 and meet on Fridays through May 18 at 8:30-10:30 am.

Longview:

  • Play to Learn- classes begin Sept. 23 and meet on Fridays through Nov. 4 at 8:30-10:30 am.

  • Story Time- classes begin April 4 and meet on Wednesdays through May 16 at 8:30-9:30 am.
