• Board Member Appointment Heading

We are appreciative and grateful for the 2 1/2 years of board service of Leanne Greenberg on the Osborn School District Governing Board, since her election in November 2022 and service beginning in January 2023.  She and her family have recently moved out of state to be nearer to family, and we wish her and her family well in their new home.  Mrs. Greenberg notified the Maricopa County School District Superintendent that she has moved outside of the district boundaries, creating an opening effective immediately on the board.

If you are interested in serving out the remainder of this term, from appointment through December 31, 2026, we have the information you need to begin the process.  Because of how short of time there is remaining in the term, there will not be an election for filling the seat.  Rather, Shelli Boggs, Maricopa County Superintendent, will appoint a community member for the remainder of the term.  Below are the steps in the process.

    Notification of Interest
You may write to Supt. Boggs' office directly or to the school district to express your interest.  Both are acceptable means of declaring interest in the opening board seat.  The district, however, will conduct a process where we will interview all candidates contacting us and make our top 3 recommendations to Supt. Boggs.  If you are interested in being interviewed by the district and potential placement in our top 3 recommendations, please submit notification of interest to the district (instructions to follow).

    Qualifications
To serve on the governing board, you must:
    1. be a registered voter in Arizona
    2. be a resident of the district for a minimum of one year prior to appointment
    3. be at least 18 years of age

    Express Your Interest
To express your interest directly to the county, contact [email protected].
To express your interest directly to the school district, contact Lisa Nye, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Governing Board, in the Osborn School District superintendent's office at [email protected].  In your email please include the following:
    1. Your name
    2. Your address
    3. How long you have lived within the district boundaries
    4. A letter of interest, expressing why you would like to serve on the governing board
The deadline for submission to the district is Sunday, August 31 at 5:00pm.

    What happens after expressing interest?
After notification to the superintendent's office at the Osborn School District, we will send your information along to Supt. Bogg's office at the county superintendent's office.  You will be contacted by the district for a brief interview to discuss your interest in service on the board and priorities in service of the district and community.  This interview will occur during the first 2 weeks of September.  Upon conclusion of our interviews, we will submit all names and information to the superintendent, with the committee's confidential ranking of our top 3 candidates.   Separately, Supt. Boggs will contact all candidates for her interview process.  The district intends to conclude our process by September 15.  Once Supt. Boggs completes her interviews, she will select one community member to serve the remainder of the term.
